  • Frog ‘may have been’ framed
  • Sat phone mysteriously reset
  • Shore HQ observing close watch

DAMNING NEW EVIDENCE was uncovered today to bolster the case of DILLIGAF, the so called ‘Mount Spirit One’, who has been imprisoned on an ocean-going rowboat after a mysterious incident last Saturday left the crew unable to communicate with their British Shore HQ.

DILLIGAF, a green plastic frog, has denied the allegations of misconduct and misappropriation of official communications equipment, claiming he was framed by one of the four British Army Royal Engineer Commandos making up the crew. It is alleged that the frog, frustrated by several days of bad weather and unfavourable winds, and still angry about an earlier incident which led to him suffering a severe head injury, purloined the sat ‘phone and hid it from the four crew.

But Joe’s Blogg has uncovered startling new evidence which lends weight to DILLIGAF’s claim that he has been framed. A coded message sent by 2Lt Charlie Martell, Mount Spirit comms officer, shortly before telephone contact was interrupted revealed that skipper Captain ‘Porky’ Waterson had commandeered the phone and had ‘reset it to factory settings’.

No further information or explanation was transmitted, but the handful of DILLIGAF supporters claim this is sufficient evidence to show that the frog has been unjustly framed through the accusations of ‘world domination’.

“DILLIGAF has not even received a fair trial,” said DICAT, one of his cronies. “He’s been thrown into the brig after the flimsiest of cases against him. What was Porky doing with the sat ‘phone, when it wasn’t his responsibility?

“There seems a real possibility that these allegations were made against DILLIGAF in order to cover up someone else’s real intentions, and to divert the crew’s attention from that person’s activities.”

None of the crew, or DILLIGAF, was available for further comment as the Blogg went to press and, despite the air of mystery surrounding the activities on board Mount Spirit, it doesn’t appear to have affected their progress towards Falmouth; indeed, over the last few days Team Hesco has outrowed its two competitors in the Shepherd Ocean Fours Rowing Race 2006.

Caption Competition
A healthy response to the competition, which is more than can be said for the content of some of the entries! But there’s got to be a winner…and the winner is…

"You know, Major...I am sure that cream would be more effective.”

“Perhaps, Porx, but not half as much fun!"

Susan Riley

Susan, there’s no prize I’m afraid, just the satisfaction of feeling the reflected glory from several hundred Joe’s supporters. Well done!
