Commando Joe Completes Time Trial in Torquay
- fastest novice crew!
Three members of the Commando Joe Team undertook a time trial in Torquay
on Saturday 2 October as part of the Woodvale Regatta. The event
saw over 100 experienced and newcomer rowers taking part in the timed event
from Torquay harbour to a pre-designated buoy at Paignton. The absence
of Charlie Martell, due to work commitments in Sudan, meant the team
was joined at the last minute by the legendary ocean rower Roger Gold.
Roger talked the team through getting safely out of the harbour and
once around the buoy at Paignton showed us all how to row in choppy
seas. The crew learnt valuable lessons from his experience and we
will be forever indebted to him. The crew managed fourth place overall
and were the fastest novice crew to complete the course.
